The orchestra is recognised as one of Australia's leading community orchestras and plays a major role in providing audiences in western Sydney with accessible and affordable opportunities to enjoy live performances of a wide range of well-known and new orchestral repertoire.

The orchestra performs with many of Australia's leading and emerging conductors, and with soloists of national and international reputation.

The orchestra is run by a dedicated volunteer board consisting of orchestra and community members committed to the promotion and enjoyment of orchestral music in Sydney's west.
